Praying for Stellan

To the right of this post you will see a button with little baby Stellan's picture on it. He is the son of a blogger and has a serious heart condition at this time. If you click on the button it will take you to his mother's blog where you can read more, but please be praying for this little miracle!

A $500 movie?!?

So, our baseball tournament this weekend was scheduled for Baton Rouge. The weather was not looking too hot and my personal outlook on the situation was equally dismal! We arrived in Baton Rouge around 9 Friday night, after stopping for a very yummy dinner at Santa Fe Cattle Company! We woke up to drizzle Saturday morning and the news that our 10 am game had been bumped to noon. So after we (eventually) made it to the fields after being lost in a shady looking part of town, we paid the gate fee (of course) and waited for our turn on the fields. Our boys finally took the field and got to pitch to TWO batters before they called the tournament for the day. I felt certain that we would not get to play Sunday's games either, but the weather was looking a little better so we had a little hope. We headed over to Bass Pro Shop and ate (yum!) and let the kids walk around and look at everything...I think we even settled on a pontoon boat we really want (maybe, someday). At 5pm on Saturday, we got a text from our coach saying the tournament had been cancelled! GREAT! We had already paid for our hotel, so rather than driving home in the rain, we decided to just stay the night and take the kids to a movie...Race to Witch Mountain came out so we decided on that one! GREAT MOVIE!! Michael and I enjoyed it so much! Good thing considering the movie cost us around $500!

Baton Rouge it is!

So we did find out that we will be travelling to Baton Rouge this weekend for Gage's tournament. There is a 40% chance of rain all weekend, so hopefully we won't get rained out and will get to play some baseball!

The magic marker

I LOVE little kids! Especially children that are around Braden's age. Such a fun age. And why do I love 3-5 year olds so much? I picked up Braden from school one day last week and as he was coming toward me I saw what I thought was a big red scratch on his cheek. As he came closer I noticed that it was just a mark on his face and not a scratch. I asked him "did you color on yourself with a magic marker? " and he looked at me with his big blue eyes and replied with all the seriousness in the world "it WASN'T a MAGIC marker...it was just the regular kind!" I nearly fell over laughing! And all he wanted was to know where exactly he could find one of those 'magic' markers!!

I've joined the blog world!

We are The Smith Family....Michael, Kim (that's me), Gage (our "almost" teenager), Karigan (the princess), and Braden (the "baby"...who's almost 5!) I'm finally here in the blog world hoping to keep our family updated on all of the things that are going on with us and the kids. We are all so busy so I hope this will keep us a little more connected.

Nothing very exciting to report today. Gage had baseball practice all weekend in preparation for the upcoming tournament March 13-15. Hopefully we will get to play since we were "snowed out' last weekend. We still aren't sure where that will be. The Biloxi tournament didn't make, so we are now looking at one in Baton Rouge and one in Canton. But....rain is in the forcast all weekend, so it's still kinda up in the air. As of right now, his team is first in the state!!

Karigan is almost done with the cheer competetion season. We just had a competetion in Mobile this past weekend and her squad got first place!! Go Outlaws!! Our final competetion will be in April in Panama City. That should be lots of fun.

And Braden is just Braden....he's been exceptionally bratty this weekend! Good grief! I know this is a stage, but geez!! His registration for 5 year old Kindergarten will be April 1st. Can it really be time for him to go to "real" school? I guess so...it's gone by so fast!!
